Motor Vessel Tamarind was built at Withey Shipyards, Silva Bay, Gabriola Island, B.C. in 1954. She was one of ten vessels built for the Canadian Navy as YAG (Yard Auxiliary General) Coastal Patrol Boats between 1953 and 1958. She was acquired in 2017 by its present owners and refurbished into a recreational cruising vessel.
We offer a unique experience to travel around the stunning coastal waters of British Columbia on the West Coast of Canada. Aboard the mv Tamarind, with excellent accommodations and comforts, experience the delight of classic wood boat travelling.
While with the Canadian Navy, mv Tamarind was a training vessel for Radar, Navigation and Seamanship for both Officers, Seamen and Cadets. We have met numerous people that served on these Navy boats and shared their fond stories. We look to continuing her role in providing memorable nautical learning experiences for many years to come.
